ive heard a rumour that the standard GTi is adjustable is this correct or not? cos i was gonna go for coilovers and drop about 60mm cos i dont like the car 'too' low as to speak and are the standards monroe shocks?

As far as I know mate you cant adjust factory Gti suspension only things you can do is buy some uprated lowering springs or a set of coilovers if you dont want to go to low maybe buy some springs.

well i got told there adjustable but i dontmind paying for coilovers cos one day i might get the bug and drop it lol, saves paying twice huh. but i got u find issues  with tracking and stuff after changing the standard setup, or is that a case of where u take it etc?

Are you saying someone has looked at yours and said there adjustable?or they said that gti standard shocks etc are adjustable?If you go for coilovers and remove the old shocks etc you will need the camber and tracking set up again as the car wont drive great handling wise and your tyres wont last long either.

Not correct.

standard suspension is just that... 'standard' and should be ditched as soon as possible as even when it came out of the factory is sh!t on the mk3. Whether you plan oin lowering you Golf or not it's screaming out to be upgraded inn some way or other. judging by the fact you dont want it too low im guessing you're after preserving some kind of comfort as well. Some lovely new struts and springs with a mild lowering on them would probably suit you better than some cheap arse, bouncy, noisy and generally uncompromising coilovers.

And i've actually tried the cheap'ish option even with a shock/spring setup and not been happy..cheap coilovers would be an even worse situation.
You have to spend a bit to get a good compromise you can live with.
Also too i've never heard of a Gti with standard fitted adjustable suspension.

I hear so many good and bad comments about cheap coilovers and mine are hottunning ones think they were £140 but ill be totally honest here I havent had any issues and the ride is fine I do agree now and then on abit of a bumpy road you feel it but dont you anyhow when you uprate to stiffer suspension,here in bham the roads are awfull potholes everywhere.
