Diecast Collectables, Hobbies, etc.... Time to confess
« on: 05 February 2011, 00:29 »
Time to confess your Hobbies, past or present, I guess most of us are on this forum, because of an early interest in cars, maybe being bought a present, or visits to Toy Shops.

I have an addiction to Mattel Hot Wheels, "Redlines" in particular, so called because of the red lines printed on the tyres. Redlines were only produced from 1968 to 1972, and pretty much killed off the likes of Corgi, and Matchbox... Redlines now change hands for very often vast sums of $$$'s..

Because I cant be bothered to go and photograph my collection, I'll just copy and paste pics from Google, but I will choose the pics carefully to be a like for like representation of my collection, and yes, if pushed, would stand the "custard test"

Heres a few of my Favourites

Custom Barracuda

Custom Mustang

Funny money, I paid serious $$$ for one of these a few years ago :lipsrsealed:

Deora

And a nice link to Redlines Online, and this, the Holy Grail of Hot Wheels, read, and you'll get an idea of how much these things can go for... http://www.redlinesonline.com/2ndRearLoaderStory.html

my youngets son kane is obssessed with hotwheels and has a huge box full of them.
i have dabbled witht he idea of collecting them as some of the cars they do are very cool but have never bothered.
when i was a kid i was obbsessed with toy cars and that is all i played with.
dont realy have any left as when i was about 13 i discovered my dads huge vise in the shed witch then became the crucher and sscrap yard lol.

i do still have a black trans am with tiger stripes i got from collecting tokens from frostys when i was a kid
and my son still uses the plastic mat with roads on that i used to play on as a kid that my mum gave him out of the loft.

crazy mental. . . . .so whats your collection worth  got any rare models that serious collectors will pay big bucks for?

These are the sort of things you find at a car bootsale, the person doesnt realise the value sells it for like 50p and its worht 50k

Any hobbies Guy, I was assuming that as this is a car forum, then most would be into diecast, but anything goes, but collectables being the key word...  Anyone got a Troll collection
