Home made mods
« on: 05 February 2011, 00:19 »
Just out of boredom really, was wondering what mods people have done to their cars to make them slightly different.  I'm also at a loss as to what else to do to my car and am interested in the little things that make a car.

The obvious ones are joey the lights, change the front splitter, tinting lights, bonnet lifters, debadging the grill, de-badging or colour coding the badges, vinyl detailing, sticker bombing, changing the dashboard lights...

Anyone else thought outside the box and been chuffed with the results?

As u mentiond badge paintin, i painted the side gti badges all red and the rubbed the gti letters lightly to make them black. So u have a red background and black letters like on mk2s. U can probly buy these but i was bored and i think it looks cool :-)

Painting your wheels can change the look of your car, if your happy with the inside and outside your car you can start colour coding parts under your bonnet

Modifing the standard air box n adding a 2nd cold air intake. I found the original one was a bit restrictive but cut a hole n added a nice bit of piping from the gril under the fog light up and into the box. Real easy to do n works a treat, Improved mpg by a lil bit, quicker response when u put ur foot down. Just make sure u give the throttle body, box and breather pipes a good clean before putting it back together n u shud b able to feel the difference!

You can get the pipe from ur local builders merchants for like £5! Bargain mod!!
