Thinking of getting a Weber carb

Hi all. I'm thinking of getting a weber carb as my pierburg never seems to want to quite work right and does seem to like fuel. I think the previous owner messed about with it too much and now i'm stuck with it.

Mk2 1.6 driver.

Will a weber make it run better and give better fuel economy?

I was thinking of getting rid of the car, but if i start spending money on it, i'm going to run it for a lot longer hopefully.

Yes much better, very good mod to make.

Not sure about fuel economy but it'll run better.
You'll be able to give mk3 8v GITs some grief too.

Ive got a 1.6 like you and upgraded to a weber at the start of last month, just been on a 350 mile round trip, everything clocked and checked.... 41mpg but thats motorway mpg.

Im getting the 37mpg mark mixed driving.

And it made driving the golf alot easier ie, I couldnt pull at low revs where as now i can!

Where did you get your Weber from and for how much, does it have a manual choke?

If you go onto ebay and search for a weber for your golf, a company called 'fast road cams' will come up. Now google them and buy directly of there site and not pay the extra £15 deliver (if still applicable)

Come with everything! Even a mounting bracket for an after market air filter but ive kept the origional box on. Manual choke come with too.... as did extra fuel line, gaskets etc etc. £230ish i think i paid cant remember was only bought at the very end of last december

I thought you couldnt run a 1.8 jetted carb on a 1.6?
