To sell or not to sell ?
« on: 03 February 2011, 17:36 »
With a map on the car ?   Anyone have any experience of selling a car with a map on it ? Does having a map deter people from buying as opposed to a standard car ?

Your thoughts please gents.

I personally wouldn't buy a car that mentions its been mapped in the advert.  Most people want a standard car to then modify, some people won't be put off but I think the majority would IMO.

One of the motoring weeklies had a two page feature on buying a mk5 GTI.  Their number one point was don't buy a remapped car.
I'll not be telling if I sell mine.

Standard cars are easier to sell and you will get more money for them than a modified car.  Standard cars are more desirable because if your cars modified, people think it has been wragged and treated badly.

I cant see why VW cant remove it and load a stock map. What was their reply when you asked them?

Any tuner worth their salt should be able to stick it back to standard.

Better to sell it with a standard map.

Yes Alan that's what i was told at my local dealership yesterday,i had the map done by R-Tech last year, and basically im trying to save myself a trip up to Leicstershire.

as i want the car to be standard spec when i come to sell it.
