Automatic Braking!
« on: 28 February 2005, 17:40 »
I seem to have developed some kind of automatic breaking, when the car is out of gear or just with the clutch down it seams to start slowing down, even on the flat when momentum would carry it along and even slightly when going down hill!
Are the caliper prone so sticking?

the rear calipers are sods for sticking on. mine's so bad I don't use the handbrake anymore. just leave it in gear. as yours is a 90 spec golf you can put mk3 calipers on the back which have internal mechanism so they don't sieze like the mk2 ones.

you want late mk3 calipers. early rear calipers on mk3's are exactly the same as your own!

alternatively you can free them up if you want. do a search on handbrake & my name and it should come up

I hear mk4 calipers will fit too but you need to buy some goodridge braded lines to make them work.
