ref stalling

i know this question has been asked lots of times but im desperate for help       ive got a 93 gti 2.0  8v     and sometimes not always  it stalls when sat at lights   and sometimes stalls when slowing down     i see that people say to clean the thottle body  but im a complete thicky  so where is the throttle body   does anyone have a detailed write up of how to do it please pref with pics    ive tried doing a search but no luck

cant find a link but if u look on youtube there are lots. If u follow yr airbox back, the air inlet pipe goes to your throttle body. disconnect your throttle cable, noting where it is set on the clip, and undo 4 hex screws. Get some carb cleaner and a soft bristle brush, and give it a good clean front and back of the butterfly valve. Hope this helps

Did mine without taking throttle body off. Parked on nice high kerb so anything sprayed in throttle body ran out.. Disconnected pipe from throttle body. Sprayed a load of carb cleaner in and let it run into old rag. Did that till it came clean (short bursts) then had a wipe around inside. Then do the same with the throttle held open (engine not running). Should eventually get to the point where it's nice and clean and no crap running out. Make sure everything you can see (including valve) looks clean. I left it a few minutes to let the spray evaporate and re-connected it all.

First time I started it after that it was a bit of a rough start (think 'me worried' sort of noise). Revved the tits off it and it cleared out nicely. Been running fine ever since. I'm sure there is reasons not to do it this way, but they've yet to become apparent to me...

Clean the throttle body, if that fails replace the ECU relay as the symptoms are as you describe.
