1/Is it worth doing?
2/Have you done it?
3/Did you feel any power gains?
4/How louder did your system sound?

I welded a de-cat in on my 1.4 and was a little bit more throaty but don't really expect any gains on the smaller engines :D my mates are running them on his cupra and mk2 16v, you can definatly feel / hear the difference on them! Guess it's all down to what engine you're running, worth it on the GTi's i would say :) in the middle of building a straight pipe from manifold for my VR6!

My 16v runs over 190BHP and retains a cat...I tried a de-cat and got no gains at all except noise, so went back to running a cat.
So why remove it? It's not restrictive.

In my view, not worth the hassle/money.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

The only reason I have a decat is because my cat broke off and I had a decat pipe laying about, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered

I run a de-cat on all my motors.

Yes there is defiantly a improved throttle response. But the main reason is to prolong the life of my cat, as its only used for one day a year and I not forking out for a new one.
