if i was to take off fully comp insurance, would i be able to drive my dads car with his permission as third party?

i know a lot of people say this but im not risking it, i will def ask my insurer when i take out the fully comp but just want to hear if anyone actually does this.

i am going to be 25 this year if that makes a diffrence

Most fully comp policies do allow 3rd party cover on other vehicles, but almost all of them state that you have to be 25. Also your dads car must have a valid insurance policy on it.

Your best bet is to check with your insurer.

It doesn't matter what cover you take out as regards the driving other cars extension.

Generally, if you are aged 25+ and not in the motor trade, insurers allow the driving other cars extension though ALWAYS check your insurance certificate beforehand to see if it is stated.

always call up and check with each insurance company and also asked for what ever they tell you in writing, i.e policy t & c's etc. no two insurance companies are the same even if they have the same underwriters. it's a mine field and believe me the claims handlers are trained to spot any little white lies you may have told to bring costs down to avoid paying out! it's like when people say how can they check annual mileage well your MOT certs are a good way to go. truthfully the chances of being caught out are slim but it does happen.
