drop in MPG after cambelt change....
« on: 01 February 2011, 12:19 »
finally got my cambelt and waterpump etc changed including all the tensioners and alternator belt and antifreeze (cost £395) which was the cheapest i could find anywhere!

before the belt i was getting near enough 60mpg on an average run to work every time but now iv driven it after the belt change and im barely getting 50mpg, theres so new noises from the belt or anything like that, any idea? maybe i just need to get it worn in a bit or something.....

Could be an indication that it's been put back together slightly out, one tooth or so. Any other symptoms or fault codes?
My Golf is dead but at least I have this....

im getting my vagcom reader back tommorrow so il find out any codes by tommorrow evening. if it was serious enuf to be a tooth or something to do with the belt it shud affect my performance? cos performance is fine at the moment. iv got a slight blowing exhaust (it was blowing before but now its slightly worse) wondering if its just that....
