if your on windows vista you have to run vagcom as an administrator (right click) and it works!

i am running vista, and set as administrator but it comes up as shareware version with limited access... what do i need to do buddy?

Buy the full version......or find ways around it

It's awkward but I never had any problems with these third party vag-com cables on windows vista a few years ago or windows 7 and this was with vag-com and now vcds lite. Never had to right click and run as admin either.

There's normally a driver for the cable on the disk that comes with the software. I plugged the lead in then told it where the drivers were and it installed them automatically.
Then, start vagcom as an administrator and on the settings try different com ports till it finds it, mine is always com3 then you can save and it should work.
