K Jet DX Injectors and Collets
« on: 30 January 2011, 19:44 »
Hi,

I was asking previously about possibly replacing my injectors with the Mercedes Brass ones and was told it depends it I have the coarse threads of not.

These are my injectors - 0 437 502 015

Are these the coarse ones? Could I replace with the Merc ones?

Also the top of one of the injector seats (collets?) is burnt and damaged whilst trying to remove a pig of a manifold stud. I sources these a while back with the part no: 102 090 09. Are these the correct ones for my K jet DX engine with the above injectors? I tried fitting them earlier but it seemed a little tight and even without the rubber seals on the injector was shy of the bottom by about 5mm.

An here the rubber, no matter how hard I pushed would go down no rurther. There is a ridge in the collet but it did not seem to be able to go that far.

This is pic of current ones still in (getting 13mm Hex key in post to remove)

Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

look liek early coarse thread to me, whats the VAG part number? the inserts look to be the later type which is why they wont work with your early injectors. if they are early injectors the inserts you need are
063 133 555 - 1.99+VAT

Ok so my 13mm Hex key arrived... Colletts take 12mm :(

Anyway went to Halfords and got a 12mm Hex and tried to remove. They simply did not want to budge at all :( ended up sheering the inner hex plastic trying to gave up. Is there any other way to remove them? Or is it a head off and drill / force out job?

Not too much of a prob as old ones are at least doing their job, albeit they seen better days.

Are the old injector seats plastic, if so you can try to split them and remove that way.

Yea they are plastic but seem brittle. I will probably wait until I remove the head at a later time and do all the valve seals etc as dont want to risk debris falling in lol.

Cheers
