i am going to attemp this:

but will be using heat proof glue am jus worried about how i will attach it underneath the bonnet as i dont want it jus flapping about in the engine bay. does anyone have any ideas on this?

could always put some foil or heat proofing sort of material under the bonnet inbetween the strenghtening bits

Cloth on a bonnet seems a bad idea to me, they get hot.
