16v/8v backbox differences?
« on: 25 January 2011, 13:00 »
Hey guys, just a quick one...

I picked up a cheap backbox that was on a mk2, I can't get it to sit properly at the moment I'm making the best out of a poor situation and using cable ties :(

I was guessing that maybe it's from a valver or big bumper model and mines an ancient 8v with different hangers?

Any thoughts?

All are the same fit, 16v is a bigger bore from memory.

not quite, big bumper ones fit different right at the back to small bumper due to the big bumper sitting lower and further back. some aftermarket ones are just a crap fit though. yeah 16v is bigger bore than 8v too 2.25" vs 2"

the angle of pipes is slightly different between pre90 and 90 spec as already mentioned.
I bought mine from GSF. Not too expensive

it had snapped though

Cheers for the quick replies...

It's hanging very very low and even if cut the pipe down a bit so it could hang without the aid of cable ties I believe it would still be extremelly low. I'll try & get a picture to show you guys tomorrow weather depending.
