Hi All,

I know there have been several posts on this subject in the past, but the answers seem to be contradictory to what I have seen.

Basically my GTI is on order with RCD510 + Dynaudio + Bluetooth Telephone Preperation, can anybody confirm if it will come with the rather nice looking sharkfin aerial?  There are two 60 plate GTD's at work both with RCD510's and Bluetooth Telephone prep, and neither have the sharkfin (In fact neither have an external aerial full stop!)..So I'm assuming the answers in previous posts are wrong, or there has been some type of spec change since?

Tis a shame if this is the case  :undecided:

Mine came with the RCD510 and the Premium Bluetooth (rSAP). It was a May 2010 car. It did come with the sharkfin, but only with the phone antenna - I still needed a separate antenna for the GPS when I upgraded that.

On a geeky note, the rSAP system actually uses the SIM card in the phone (remotely) but is a mobile phone in its own right.

The newer Bluetooth kit is hands free profile (HFP) which means it acts as a hands free for the mobile, can access the phone book, but is NOT a mobile in its own right.

Just to add to the complication, some of the newer modules (such as the one I replaced mine with) can do both rSAP and HFP.

What I do not know is if the Bluetooth ordered now is just HFP or if you can order Premium.

Thanks for the reply.  tbh I didn't know there were two different kits, especially as there is only one which you can order?  From what you say it appears the kit I have ordered will just give me Hands Free Profile but not be a mobile in it's own right (rSAP).  So now probably explains why both GTD's do not have the sharkfin

Just buy one and attach it, if its omission concerns you. Nobody will guess it is fake.

My understanding is that the shark fin comes with either factory fitted bluetooth and/or sat nav. DAB uses the rear window aerial.

It is quite possible for cars to have been upgraded by the dealer once in the UK, which might explain the lack of a shark fin on those GTD's you mentioned.
