If you ECO drive like seriously you can achieve the impossible..
I have a pic somewhere of 44.1 in my 16v  Will try and dig it out :afro:

cruising round the M25 in a 50mph limit, then up the M40 also 50mph in roadworks I got 47.1mpg in my valver once  sure is boring though

from an insurance point f view, with my policy I've got a bhp limit but I can do anything/everything to it no matter how expensive and as long as it doesn't go past the bhp limit it is all fully covered.

It's quite a good policy I thought.

ahh you have found me out... im lying about my fuel consumption for own personal gain...  im not asking you to belive me, im telling you how it is... 8v's are sh!t on fuel... i should know i owned one for 2 years, then a 16v for another 18 months, and that was much better on fuel, the vr is just as good as the 16v... to be honest, i bored now anyway, belive what you want...

Your VR6 must be worth a fortune then Mate as it's the only one in living history that can achieve these figures. As for ownership I have owned 5 Mark 3's over a number of years. If you don't like what you hear then simply take a piccy of your clocks when they are telling you that your mpg is 35 and then I can admit I am wrong and give in to your "greater" knowledge as I believe your talking rubbish

It possible to take a shap shot of the MFA when coasting along gently but what about a photo of the average MPG with the MFA in the second position over a few thousand miles?
Not convinced a 2.0 8 valve is the least economical at all........
8v then 16v (not too far behind) then VR6 from road tests and all I've read on this forum.

Im with you Dean a VR6 is no way better on fuel than a 8v or a 16v as its a far bigger engine for one and why would you buy a VR6 to drive round in it like a 90 year old grandad whats the point in that if you buy a VR you just have to drive it hard thats why you buy one for the noise of the VR grunt

ha... now i remember why i dont come on this forum...

if the 8v is soooo good on fuel then why is it all ive read so far on this topic is all the 8v owners saying their motor wont get above 20mpg... my 8v wouldnt go above 20mpg, it was crap, the engine had to work so hard, the vr doesnt labour at all, as said, at 70 mph, it sits at 3000 rpm.. when the 8v sits about 5/6000 rpm...

anyway, im done on this topic now, i drove from bradford to junction 5 on the m60, (46 miles) and back again on sunday, and put £15 in the car, from red, and got there and back again, and made it to work this morning, if anyone is truly unconvinced, ill take you out for a drive in the VR. peace out.
