im getting a telescope in a couple of weeks and cant wait to hook the dslr up to it
cool - what you getting?
a celestron of some sort probs(Newtonian reflector) what one you have?
celestron

we've got a skywatcher 4.5" reflector
it's not 'mine' as such... I got it for the little one for christmas as she loves astronomy, she's 6. So far, in the short while we've had it.. we have looked at all sorts.. the moon, jupiter, different constellations in detail, nebula in orions sword etc.. haven't managed to pinpoint Andromeda yet... its a b@stard to find! She's able to name all the planets in order too... which I think is pretty cool.
I got a decent budget one that I can build upon so that if it starts to gather dust it won't be the end of the world.. going to get some decent eyepieces soon
two suggestions, speaking from my limited experience..
go for as big a mirror as you can... I'm starting to think about an 8" dobsonian but haven't really got anywhere to place it as such
also.. if you opt for a reflector get a motor drive... planets move bloody fast!! (yes I know its the earths rotation)
If we stick at this astronomy lark then we might upgrade to a meade of sorts... with goto

I took some shots the of the full moon the other night... nothing spectacular as it was only holding a compact up against the eyepiece, its blurry and not great.. but it give you an idea of what to expect
