MkVI Turbo's- Dump Valve ?

Considering many of us Mk6er's (turbo's either R, GTi or GTD) haven't just celebrated our 21st birthday, and a dump valve might be a thing of the past to some of us.........I just wondered how many of us have fitted a dump valve, and are they happy with it....?

All turbo petro cars all have dump valves, diesels have a slightly different setup. Difference is these days compared to the RS turbo and old skool subarus is that our dumped air from the turbo is recirc'd back into the air intake where as older cars would go to vent giving a woosh noise off. Fitting a dump valve that went vent would up set the ECU and think there was a boost leak. You can get a dump valve that recirc'd some air and vents off the rest from Forge but you need to set it so the ECU still thinks it working correctly. All in all changing your dump valve won't do anything for you unless your OEM one bursts? Is it the noise you want??

For f***s sake Kenny, is there anything that you dont know...?!!!
I still live in the older days where dump valves make a 'whooooosh' noise so wasn't aware of this !
This is why, personally, I feel that this is the most informative thread on this site, due to legends (and peeps with knowledge) like you !

 :grin: they are brilliant mate, just need to get some streamers on them and a wee bell!!

If you are after the woosh noise may I suggest an induction kit? You will hear the air been dumped back into the intake pipe through your induction ( cone filter ). Mine is very noticable now it's running a higher boost with stage 2.

Lol, there's lots I don't know! Like who invented the h15 bulb!!!!! Lol

I think you can get a spacer to fit to the dump valve that gives you that 'whoosh' should you be having a mid life crisis any time.
