F**k it, do it :D

I agree with the others, that it seems silly, but like Jamie said, who are we to tell you what to do! You asked for advice and you have been pushed in the wrong direction lol.

I kept my 1.4 (in my sig), still my first car

Exactly! It's like telling someone doing a vr conversion to buy a vr, or someone doing a 1.8t conversion to buy a mk4! Either way it would be cheaper but it wouldn't be MINE lol

Cheers, mike

I respect you have your reasons and good luck with it but it still makes no sense what so ever. , if you were fitting a VR to the 1.4 maybe but what your doing is reshelling the GTI due to the colour, fair enough but it will never be a GTI as such, whatever happens the chassis number will show it is a 1.4 and if you ever came to sell it people will still view it as a conversion.

Not having a go just saying how I see it.

Sorry to hijack, but what's going on with your sig :D

I know you're not having a go Wayne lol, but it's not just the colour, it's the car itself! My missus has had it ages and it only cost us £190. When we first bought it we got the whole (it's a turd) thing and from my point of view id like to prove those fookers wrong and show them what can be achieved with some tlc. From her point of view she doesn't want a black 5 door gti, she wants her grey 3door 1.4 pedal and pop. Thing is the engines knackered and instead of refitting a puny 1400 we found the gti cheap with the intent of a donor car!

Cheers, mike
