MK2 - Abit green

I remember my 1.6 carbed Mk2, was a great little engine so long it was air leak free  

I had a weber 32/34 DMTL carb and it ran great once the airleak was fixed (it was the flange between the carb and the inlet manifold that was causing it, common fault).

I know, my 1st car was a mk2 1.8 carb'd driver.. i learnt alot from it

Well if anybody has paid attention to the mk2 section recently, i asked a question on a decent cup holder (this is a must for me, long journeys etc)....



Thats how i want it to sit so time to bodge some stuff together and make it stay 









Used some window packers i got from work ( I make windows, doors & conservatorys for a living by the way  ) to fill the gap between the holder and the radio cage, the holder itself has plenty of locating holes so no problem there, fairly easy to do and its holding up quite good. 2 cans of monster and some of our glorious english roads and good so far

Nope just a universal jobbie. Sits very well and doesn't look put of place too! A mk4 would be a better choice and easy upgradable

Nice little mk2 mate I prefer mk2s with small bumpers think they look more retro.One of my favorite sets of wheels those ats cups I had a Identical set on my mk3 wagon they looked awsome when they was clean but a nightmare to clean when they have no laquer on but they really suit your car.Can you insure these on classic car insurance out of intrest?

Ta pal, yeah I prefer the smaller bumpers (less parts to fall off). And the wheels are a pain in't ass but what can you do eh?! I'm looking at camber shims for the rear at the moment and weighing them up.

As for the classic insurance I havent a clue? Maybe someone else can shed some light.

Also weighing up if i should do the whole gti head/ cam with 4 branch. My mate has gti cam lying in his shed.... Also need a new breather pipe for rocker cover as mine is seriously callapse although leak free.

Yes mate it was me who directed you to that cup holder, i am glad to see it is getting fitted and to be fare looks really good. Well done mate, bet you will have given a bit of insperation for others thinking about putting cup holders in a mk2.

Cheers  I knew the holder would I've been abit of a 'hit n miss' deal like all things universal but it's actually quite decent! So good shout.... Especially when they sent me 2! Haha lovely. If I get bored ill Probly stick something else in there, only thing it lacks is a 'push to open' function.
