You need a new Mk3 then, unless you are handy with a welder and paint will cost ££££

but thought it would be easier to buy the sills to weld in

It is a much cleaner job like that but quite a lot of work, look at TShirt2k or GTI Jamo's build threads.

Had mine done for £150, I supplied the sills and did the painting.

YES!

I would be dubious of doing inner sills, patch with chassis grade sheet, depending on how bad they are.
