Gti anni with clutch issues?? help please?
« on: 16 January 2011, 17:46 »
Had clutch slipping issues recently, took to a local garage and had a new clutch fitted but still find the clutch slipping in high revs?
Is this normal until clutch beds in or have i been screwed over, gonna take back to garage but would like to know what im talking about when i go in!
Could it be they havent replaced cable as well, after paying a little over £400, i think the problem should have been rectified??

Any ideas would be appreciated.

 After paying that amount of money you shouldnt have any trouble! It doesnt need to bed in and shouldnt still be slipping. Do you know if they changed the crank oil seal when they did the clutch? These are known to split and allow oil to contaminate the clutch!

Bet youre well mad mate! I took my old golf in to have the clutch done once and they changed my exhaust and tried to charge me for it

You should be able to get in your car and drive it with no clutch related issues after having spent £400 on it. Any decent garage would know which seals to replace while doing a clutch. Is there any drips of oil underneath your car?

one thing it does say on invoice is a small charge for a seal of some description!
Could the slip be caused by anything else??

It should not be slipping, something is wrong.

If you had an oil leak maybe it has picked up oil.

Hello i'm new to the forum,

About your clutch issue i repalced my gearbox a few months back and added a new clutch at the same time, the gearbox works great i noticed clutch slip on high rev's when i looked into it i found that i had to rebuild the clutch cable as it was adjusted wrongly.

either a new cable or strip the cable and re fit it. not sure if yours is cable or not?

Matt.
