I recently test drove a 25th Anniversary GTI with a view to buying it. It's done 20K miles. On the test drive a low pitch hum came from the engine?? It sounded like a pump or possibly a diff type of noise but having not driven one before I not sure if it's normal.
It did regardless of the engine speed or gear it was in but it wasn't there all the time. I've never heard the noise on any other car including turbo's.
Any advice would be appreciated.
