MK2 OVERREVVING

UPON GEAR CHANGE MY MK2 16V (KR) WILL INCREASE IN REVS SLIGHTLY WHEN THE CLUTCH IS DOWN AND ITS GETTING ANNOYING.
ITS ONLY HAPPENED SINCE A LONG JOURNEY AND IT HAD A MISFIRE AND WHEN I STOPPED THE LEADS WHERE ARCING OUT ON THE INLET MANIFOLD SO I TURNED IT OF ADJUSTED THE LEADS AND SINCE THEN ITS IDLING @ 1250 RPM ALL THE TIME.... WHAT SHOULD I BE LOOKING AT FIRST??

Have you tried looking at the simple things first ???

Sticky throttle arm / accelerator cable / throttle butterfly ??

or take off the throttle body and squirt copious amounts of brake and clutch cleaner on it to free it all up.
