Mk2 16v Strutbrace fitment
« on: 13 January 2011, 12:48 »
Test fitted the front upper strut brace I got when I bout the car. It seems to interfere with the top of the brake fluid resevoir and aside from that it appears to sit right in the way of the bonnet reinforcement when trying to shut the bonnet. Will post pics when not at work.

1. Maybe the guy bought a 8v strut brace or something?

2. Is there a strutbrace that I can fit that will be a direct fit.

3. Have I got it on backwards?

Cheers

Sounds like you have bought the completely wrong one to me

People seem to be shouting about Ebach ones been the only ones that fit properly, but they dont make em anymore

Sorry to clarify, I got brace with the car. Eibach ones are about a million billion pounds, so may fabricate one if all else fails.

Indeed, as I said, I'm at work. Will post some tonight, pic's are pretty kak though

If the strut brace doesn't fit either way round, and it catches the master cylinder reservoir, and also cant shut the bonnet, my guess would be its the wrong one....

This is just a guess so dont slate me but....

When i had my VTS and fitted a strutbrace i tighterned it wrong and couldnt shut the bonnet, i.e i had the tension pushing the struts as apposed to pulling them together.. i may be chatting out my arse tho
