Fitting GTI lights to a lower model Mk3

Hi everyone. Excuse my noobish question, but i'm still learning my way around the Golf. Anyway I want some GTI rear lights, my question is; do I need to buy the bulb holders for them? Or do they attach to the standard Mk3 unit?
Thanks
