I stay out of these threads as everyone knows best. but the main reason as I recall is location of the original build as early 90's is when VAG started building both the mk2 and then the mk3 in another country I think it was belguim hence the poorer quality steel. as seen both MK2 and MK3 from this trime either rusted away or solid as a rock. engine wise the 2e engine management is pretty much the same as the mk2 as if you look they have the same airflow metres as a pB all be it hidden in different airboxes I am sure thats right but a bit rusty as last time I could walk out into the yard and check on different golfs was 5 years ago now

do miss it (f@cking enviroment agency) the AGG lump the management system that runs is sh!te. more sensors and the ecu return relay fault is down right dangerous cars cutting out at any speed in any situation with no pattern ffs. as a side note the agy although sorta the same as the AGG and only ran for around a year was much better but highier on emissions and as costs came into it with the US market why I believe the agg was developed
