Gti rear drivers side caliper

Need a little help as in the way of i need to replace it as its "f**ked". didn't know if anyone on here might have one spare or avaliable. anyone help would be great as i really cant afford a new one. cheers

ebay or gsf is your best bet,unless you know how old the second hand one is.
Buying second hand might only last a few months,then back to square 1.
Im in the same boat as you mate

also they changed in mid 1995 so ensure you get the correct one or you'll have issues! (although you can use the later callipers on an early car by using new brake cables as it's the handbrake mech that's different)

no need to touch the cables, the calipers early/late are identical in terms of fitment
its pre-93 that had the earlier caliper according to ETKA but you never know if old ones have been switched on, plus the time from when the car was made to when it was sold can take a while

Jon my golf had the early calipers but had the factory build sticker of Feb 1995!

well who knows what went on with the parts bin, i just have the chassis break numbers on etka to go on

I always thought the calipers changed when the cars went onto 288mm fronts and the new abs system?

everything I've seen suggests they changed much earlier than that, plus all the GTIs I've checked in the scrappy have the later calipers even the ones with 280mm fronts. loads of em in there as well, usually at least 5 at a time
