Raddo vr question
« on: 11 January 2011, 12:53 »
Hello chaps how your all well n had a good new year!

I've had a look on here but coinage find anything and on phone's a nightmare!

Basically, I've been offered a raddo vr lump with various ancillaries, what exactly would I need to drop it into my 2.0 8v?

Thanks in advance!!

Corrado lump will be ok but you will still need a mk3 VR for loom and ecu etc.

Have a read: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=124485.0

I would add that think long and hard before doing it, the better option is to sell up and buy a VR

The Raddo lump is more powerful as its a 2.9 litre so its worth having!
Think its 190 bhp against the Vr's 176 bhp.

Need a lot more than the wiring loom and ECU!

gearbox, exhaust manifold, downpipe and cat. can prob fit this to your old zaust but id get 16v/vr one. will bolt up to your existing shafts, but you'll need the cable shifter. then its a case of using seat abf/tdi hydro->cable clutch kit, or fit the master cylinder and pipes to your pedal box. thats all you need though, the hole is already there just need the clip on the end and it pops right on your old pedal box.

corrado loom and ecu can be used but it may need a couple of tweaks to suit a mk3, mk3 vr loom would be direct fit. just make sure you get right loom for your car, as early cars have lighting and engine loom separate, later cars its all combined. can use either setup but if you get the wrong type for your car it'll take more effort to get it in there.

oh and you may need a vr6 fuel pump, early vr uses a 4 bar pump, but later models seem to use the same one as the gti/16v. need to get the right coil/coilpack to match the vr loom you are using, and early ones use a different ecu relay to the 8v. later ones dont have ecu relay at all

Basically I'm buying the whole corrado for 200 n heard the engine running.... What should I take from the corrado? Pedal box? Clocks? Will it bolt to my subframe? Am I ok using the loom n ecu from this car? Or like someone said, I'd need a golf vr one?!

Thanks for your help. :)
