Chip etc for 8v

A friend of mine has said I should get my 97 mk3 gti 8v chipped to give it a tiny bit more response. I've also heard about other things you can put in for cheap to liven it up a little.

Before the comments begin, i know it's a mk3 and (not a true gti apparently) and i know its an 8v but it was a free car.

Also, anyone know anywhere good around walsall/west mids?

hello mate, don't know what everyone elses opinion woulkd be but i personally wouldnt bother, and spend the money elsewhere on your car. if your serious though i believe r-tech are doing a deal for mk3 owners chipping for £150, have a search in the mk3 section it'll come up somewhere. from what i've heard about them it would prob be worth making the journey to see them.

i apologise mate just found the thread http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=173254.0 it would appear it's for 16v and vr6 give em a call though if your still interested though and see what they can do, i personally can't see you'll see much of a gain though,

Not worth the bother in a std 8v, with other mods a remap will give you a small gain.

Also don't bother with ebay chips they are really bad news.

buy coilies so it a) looks better b) handles better and goes round corners quicker

Don't bother doing a DIY job. Rtech. Currently have great prices on remaps for the mk3 so I'd go to them.
