Door handles. Handles for doors.

My drivers door exterior handle has snapped. Not the handle, but the lever for operating the mechanism. Are they replaceable or do I have to swap out the whole lock shebang?
You may laugh, but i even considered superglue.

Yes, there's a screw on the front behind the plastic (or chrome) finish.  The second screw is visible when you open the door.  With the handle off you can remove the barrel (think there is a screw holding it in).

Handle WITH lock are avalible from gsf. Around £7.

Yeah, buy a new handle (with lock) and use the lock barrel from your broken one so your original key works in it.

In fact, I may have a spare one in the garage, can have a look and send you one if you like?

DO NOT BUY PATTERN DOOR HANDLES

The moving parts are made from a really soft metal and my drivers side on lasted 4 months before it would no longer operate the latch sufficiently enough to open  the door 

plus the passenger one (of the same age) snapped when someone tried breaking in, the replacement OE drivers side one withstood a beating.

In conclusion: Pattern ones wear out very quickly and break easily if subjected to force 

Theyre around £27 new from VW, as mentioned just swap the barrels over (keep the key in the barrel at all time though or you'll lose the springs!)

yep thats what i meant when i said theyre £27 from VW...  :embarassed: But all the TPS bits we order are genuine

i got my price from TPS a couple of months ago when the car got broken into, but to be honest i got a good genuine pair from the local breakers for £20 total.... and they still feel better than the new pattern ones i had despite being  over 20 years old
