Fastest Driver
« on: 20 February 2005, 19:25 »
ok i got a new problem ,after fixing up a good gti mrk 2 8v, im left with , a 1.6 driver mr2  and a spare 1.8 8v engine and interior, so i was planning on making a illigit gti engined driver and making it a fast as possible , without any major engine overhauling , looked on euro car parts for a  k,n filter , but they have a filter charger (k&N 57i)  that fits 8v gti , and they have high airflow  filters aswell , can i fit both ? :undecided:  . i know ill need 2 fit upgraded brakes Sussys and exgaushts but also any other ideas?

You're gonna fit a GTI engine in a Carbed Driver?? You're gonna have some serious work to do there!? Better off selling the engine and the Driver and buying a cheap GTI I reckon..just my opinion mind...If you do it, it will be something to be proud of.?

yeah, you'll probably have to changer practically everything anyway. fueling probably won't be up to it and the wiring will be a nightmare

It can't be that dificult can it?

Surely, as you've got a complete GTI as a donor car, you can just swap everything accross, inc. the loom, brake servo and master cylinder etc etc.

It wil take a long time though.

It doesn't make a great deal of sense though? as if you tell the insurance company about the engine swap, they will bump up your premium to a similar level to a standard GTI.
