help i have just bought a Mk3 gti but the central locking does not work i changed the battery in the key fob (old one slightly rusty and hasn't been used for a while ) the air pump motor in the boot (behind the drivers side back lights ) had been disconnected so i reconnect it unlocked the door manually and it makes a noise like it wants to work but it doesn't i have tried to reprogram the remote c/l by turning on the ignition with spare key locking the drivers door manually pressing the button to get the alarm and lights to flash but nothing happens i believe this is a common problem  CAN ANY ONE HELP AND GIVE ME SOME ADVICE  cheers

Could be a pump fault or a split pipe loosing pressure.

I don't know how much the pumps cost second hand but if they are cheap enough from a scrappy or eBay you could try replacing it and take it from there?

I don't know how much the pumps cost second hand but if they are cheap enough from a scrappy or eBay you could try replacing it and take it from there?

They are not that expensive to be honest.

Worth a go then, probably first thing i'd have a go at if it's a cheap part, and once you have a pump that works you can then check for leaks.  :wink:
