1st car was a 1999 Peugeot 106 Gti.  Spent about 5k doing it up.  It was an awesome first car mind, very fast!

2nd car was a 2005 Honda Civic Type R.  Loved this car, very quick and loved the position of the gearstick.  Had to sell as was too expensive to run

3rd car was a 2002 Peugeot 106 Gti.  Wanted something cheapish, but still relatively quick.  Car was an absolute pig though, sold after 2 months

4th car was a 1998 Volkswagen Polo 16v.  Went super sensible as I moved out of home.  Was bitten by the VW bug.  Loved the solid build quality.  Was cheap to run, relatively quick and good fun to rag about.

5th & current car is a 2006 Mk5 Volkswagen Golf Gti.  Needless to say loving every minute

Just turned 48 in December, this is my first GTI.

I am sitting here in Stanley Park in Vancouver watching a Raccoon playing with a gorgeous black squirrel and wondering what to have for my lunch

By the way I have seen 2 GTIs one in red and the other just like mine in deep pearl black (both looked good).

Have fun you lot back in blighty, TTFN

I got my first GTI at 34.  A mk5 manual 5 doorer in Steel Grey.  I bought it brand new based soley on the reviews and what I'd read and understand about its iconic history.  I didn't even test drive one before parting with £22k or so.  Very risky when I think about it now but I've never looked back to be honest.  I can still remember that first drive home from the garage to my house - 40 odd miles where I just couldn't stop laughing out loud!

I did over 50k miles in just under 3 years and enjoyed every one of them before recently upgrading to my new MK6 and second GTI.  The GTI suits us perfectly as we are a one car family.  It's very practical for day to day use and much more fun over and above that when you need it.

Before that in 20 years of motoring I started with a Peugeot 405 GLX TD, moved on to a BWM 328 saloon, then a BWM 320 saloon (a bad move) then my MK5 GTI.
