Fog lights coming on when turning corners

Does anyone know why the foglights on Mark 6 golf's (not GTI's) come on when turning corners? and also why the foglight's on my Mark 6 GTI do not when I turn a corner? is this just a vagcom issue? Thanks

Yes it can be enabled on the GTI via VCDS.

It comes as standard on the GT (static cornering lights)
On the GTI I reckon VW thought most would take the Xenon option that has dynamic cornering lights.
It is only good on bendy country roads when you are going slow and a total waste in the city. In fact in the city it just looks like you have a foglight out when sitting indicating at the lights.

I enabled it and thinks its brill.
1. Lights up when you indicate, as someone mook installed the indicators next to the head lights and they are hard to see, so I think this helps a little.
2. Lights up when turning the wheel past 80 degrees below 50km/h (i think).

Lights up my garage when turning towards it, lights up the driveway to my garage.  They fade away slowly too.

As usual the advice is rapid and to the point, thanks. I take it once it has been activated, you can get it switched back if you decide you dont like it, or you dont like the fact that it looks like you have a foglight out

Hopefully as I'd be interested in knowing how to turn it off 
It is good in the country where I live actually but the amount of folk that have drew up beside me or approached me when I've parked in a car park at night saying "do you know one of your foglights are out" is ridiculous.

Plus it has been on Fiats for years so looks very ordinary now

It looks dumb  I have been driving for a few years now and never thought, I needed more light when turning that corner, it was too dark there!?

Seen the fog light feature on a Golf the other day and it just looked odd.

VCDS to turn it off again. 
Once I enabled it I thougt it was a gimmic, but actually it provides quite alot of light to an area you cannot see clearly in the dark when turning sharply.
  He thinks it might be a camera job with the wide angled lense in the dark again.  Well for tomorrow anway as my GTD is asleep in the garage for now.

I like it good little feature. its also a laugh when people tell you your car is doing funny things
