I've just took off the HT lead from the coil to the dizzy and blew the WD40 i sprayed on it earlier....

Started the car and whey hey its started but struggling to keep running.... few revs and its stable...... took for a spin and still ok just left running for 10 mins in idle to hopefully dry out the moisture....

I'm ashuming my coil is ok then?? and just had a damp problem do u think???

I took the dizzy cap off and sprayed wd40 in there and cleaned that too.... could do with it changing really coz the points look worn. but soooo happy its working again :))

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

a week on and not a problem :)

changing dizzy cap, rotor arm and spark plugs at the weekend.

Mine had a similar problem where i couldnt get it to start. turned out the plastic slot in the rotor arm had snapped so obviously it wasn't spinning as it should.

The cap and arm also had a lot of buildup on them so replaced both that and the cap and its running better than it was before the problem even came about. definitely worth changing them. Cost me under a tenner.
