front door problem
« on: 04 January 2011, 00:06 »
Over christmas every so often (usually on the cold nights) i unlock my car with the remote central locking and the door wont open, then the car locks itself again. After a few attempts im in and all good.
Tonight i did the same, car unlocks, the boot and 2 rear doors open fine, both front doors dont. The pins inside both come up and the car starts and drives (had to climb over to to get home).
Even just using the key in the lock doesnt work, the central locking operates, door pins rise but door still wont open. I came to my car at 11.30 tonight to find this i've used my car throughout the day and both doors have opened fine for us.

as i said it's done it temporarily before so im not sure if something mechanical has broken as it usually stops after a few attempts.

Any ideas?  gotta use my car in the morning for work and i dont feel comfortable driving 'trapped' inside.

mk3 door/locks dont like the cold, myself and alot of people have this problem.
its just the icey conditions that it happens to mine.
i dont think its anything to worry about but im sure someone can explain better?
usually with mine the drivers door is worse and i have to go in and out the passenger door or sometimes the back

I know this topic is old.....but I did do a quick search first....I have just started to have this problem.  Had to climb in over the passenger seat this morning, but worked fine this afternoon when I left work.

During my lunch I went out to find it wont open.....then......suddenly it decided to open.  Then it decided not to open etc etc.  After unlocking and locking it 10-15 times and it not opening more often than opening I was convinced it seemed like an elctrical fault.

Wondered if anyone has since found a solution to this problem????

Mine does it on both front doors...but only when its b*stard cold....

Its always ok once its been driven with the heaters on for a couple of minutes.  But I hate driving a car when I cannot physically get out (having climbed over the front seats...
