Creaking seat!!!
« on: 03 January 2011, 21:16 »
My driver seat has started creaking when going round a bend!  What can I do about it?

Thanks in advance.

Sometime ago, someone else posted on a similar problem. If I remember correctly, VW had to replace the seat squab. I think he weighed around 12 stone but was not tall. So not overly heavy IMO.

I weigh 11 stone and am 6' 1.25" and I think there are those occasional times my seat might have squeaked.

I've tried lowring the seat and I only weigh 11 stone!  Is there anywhere I can spray some lubricant or do you guys recommend taking it to the dealer?

Cheers,

Jim

I had the same issue on my MK5.

I put some grease on the wheels in the runners and that seemed to cure it.

As mike. advises, try grease or WD40 on the runners. However, if the creak is from the actual squab, then it would possibly need to be a dealer visit.
Knowing VW, they might initially classify this as normal!
Hope the grease sorts this out. All the best.
