Rotor Arm removal

Hi,

Searched the site and google, and I cant seem to work out how to remove my rotor arm from the distributor. Help please, noob >.<

It just pulls/slides off. May be semi stuck if its been a while though. Don't prise against the plate with 4 holes in it though if its real stuck

im trying to work out why the car wont start, how close should the arm be to the four points in the distributor cap? it is about 3-4mm away and looks slightly corroded/burnt. thanks

I think its meant to be closer, I spun a new arm inside a new cap off the car the other day and I'm sure they were v close..I'd guess you'd be getting a gradual fade/missfire getting worse if it was the cap/arm failing, never directly had a prob with em before, jus replaced prematurely I suppose. someone else on here could probably confirm the symptons of cap/arm death

I believe they are glued on with a 16v.
You have to carefully crush the shaft with a pair of pliers etc to get it off

Nah they've got a tapered keyway that as you push it on gets tight..it mite have sorta glued the plastic to the shaft with heat over the years tho..

Pair of Maul grips are ideal.
Replacements are not expensive, cap and arm. Cap on 16v KR has a black sleeve that needs to be transferred onto the new cap. If it is very tight then carefully break the brown cap inside the black sleeve too. Had me scratching my head first time I did it.

if the contacts look very worn in the capand on the arm the best thing is to just buy a new set, not expensive
