As said Mate they are illegal. I was running them on my old GTI for months with no problems and was even followed by the police. I have them on my current car and again so far have had no trouble. I had to send pictures of my car to my insurance company and they said nothing either. However, technically they are illegal so be very careful.

I've got a set of full german plates on my mk3, the letters and numbers are very clear and won't confuse any camera's and i've had no trouble from the law.
It's a risk you take but they do look very nice.

Makes no difference, non standard font is illegal.

ran german plates on my mk2 for around a year with no troubles, even had the law follow me on several occasions. BUT i think that was more luck than anything. i think its best to go Legal font on pressed plates thats what i will be doing. just not worth a fine and if you have a particulary nosey coppa the full car inspection too!

Its a very thin line between having alot of trouble with them and not,  traffic cops are pretty bad for stoping you, always best carry a standard set in the boot and offer to swop them there and then if you get pulled
