Injectors

hay all,

I was having a fiddle the other day while putting a new altnator on (not in my pants but the injectors :grin:) and i noticed that i could turn the nut on the injectors (oh...8v K jet) i tried to tighten them up with no joy. they just keep turning :angry:

any ideas?? should they do that??

Short answer, Yes.

the injectors have rubber seals top and bottom, as long as these are not leaking and the engine runs fine then all is good.  I wouldn't be turning them too much tho as you may break a seal.

they're never tight. they only push in :grin:

While were on the topic of injectors is there a way of testing them yourself. Could you say aim one into a jar and turn the ignition to see if it sprays properly? Or would you have to start the engine on 3 cylinders? Is this recomended?  :shocked:

if you're going to take one out to spray into a jar take the spark plug out aswell else it'll damage the engine.
not advised though. you'll know if it's really buggered. just put some cleaner through.

There are methods of testing injector spray patterns, one involves removing them and placing them a certain distance from a bit of brown cardboard and making the injector pulse once for each injector
(on seperate bits of card)  and look at how the pattern matches up on all injectors, If that makes sense.  The ignition system should be disabled tho, and to be honest this kind of thing is probably best left to specialists. 

Are you experiencing any actual problems that make you think that the injector is faulty?
