water in drivers footwell

as above water is getting in some how.

i have made a vapour barrier as per the guide on here. the water seems to be dripping on to the bonnet release cable this is near to the fuse box and am not sure how it is getting in.

what kind of sealant can i use to water proof the area near the cable? im sure the grommet is in good condition but will have to have a good look tomorrow

Silicone sealant is good at keeping water out,but can be abit messy but worth a try I'd say

I have used silicone sealant.  Does the job.  As a temp measure I covered the rubber grommet in thick bearing grease.

Dont forget to use the silicone sealant on the fresh air blower vent mesh cover.  Thats where the passenger footwell gets it soaking.

Unclip and use a thin bead all around the bottom as the rubber seal shrinks.

Just a simple clear mastic will work fine, or in the previous owner of my cars case expanding foam which I don't suggest!

I had this, the water was running down the bonnet release cable and I immediately thought "Aha, it's the grommet!". I changed it but no improvement.

In the end it turned out to be the windscreen. I took off the A pillar trim and the speaker grill and poked my finger around the bottom corner of the windscreen and it was damp. Might be worth checking? I shoved a rag into the corner until I could get the windscreen resealed. Looked a bit naff but better than water dripping on your fusebox! 

I'd also check under your ECU to make sure that hasn't got any holes.
