Which door lights are we talking about?
The ones in the door mirrors? (Only there if you have the luxury pack and called puddle lights)
Or the ones in the back of the door? (These are reflectors only on the mk6 not lights)

They are at the bottom of the doors, they look like reflectors - it was Darren on his mk5 who got these to switch on when the inside lights come on, guess it is not the same for the mk6 then?

Guess he changed them for lights maybe from a mk4/leon. Mine are reflectors on the mk6, our SEAT has the lights.

There are light fittings on the bottom of the door cars that look like reflectors although they don't work, there is coding in VCDS for them.

I'll take one out when I'm back in work next week and see if the wiring is in there and if I can bring them to life.

If it's similar to my A3 then they can be retro-fitted as I have recently done this.  I bought the looms from Robin on Audi Sport.net, the lights from the dealers and retro-fitted.

End up with the bottom and the rear lights working as proper puddle lights and not just as reflectors :afro:

Which I presume will involve removing the door cards and the fair possibility of them getting marked/damaged if they are prised off  carelessly.

That it does and in my case drilling of the door card.  The A3 only had the shape for the light at the bottom and not a reflector.  Rear of the door was simply a case of swapping the red reflector for a red light

Took me about 2 hours for all 4 doors but then I had a plug & play loom for all the doors  :nerd:

No wiring in there and you need to know what wire goes where,  plus you'll need all the door warning lights and connectors.

Have a look on www.my-gti.com it does show you whats what on the lighting section.

Well done doc by the way for your promotion.

Darren

Though this is an attractive enhancement, I personally would not bother as there are the risks I mentioned earlier.

Most of our streets and homes are pretty well lit so their usefulness especially in town would be marginal.

However, in places like the third world, where much of the pavement (if they exist) and road is littered with all sorts of disgusting waste, I can see the benefit.

But then again can one have too much light on the roadside/pavement at night?
