Rear end feels a bit funny!!
« on: 29 December 2010, 16:04 »
Driving my 96 8v golf gti is starting to get me a bit nervous
When i go round a bend it feels like the rear end kind of dips down and feels like im gonna lose the rear end, really weird.
Quite hard to explain but just wondered if anyone else has experinced this? could the shocks be nackered??

Could be the rear shocks or springs or the rear axle bushes are known for failing and this can cause a twitchy feeling. Have a look underneath and see if the bushes look squashed.

check all bushes, trye pressures but I would guess rear axle bushes (which are a swine to remove/fit!)

Check the rear axle and you will see them at each end of this between the axle and body (with a large bolt in the middle)

the good thing is you know it wont need the work again....my old gti cost me a fair few £££ in the early days but was trouble free for the following several years
