A sorted mk2?

One of my sills has gone, not sure if its mot fail yet but still its a massive whole in my car under the rear left headlight, I poked some bubbling and the pen went straight through, and just on the rear theres a weird hole. If i knew what I knew know I could pick a minter quite easily. Im lucky my dad mates a bodyshop manager, but he never replied too my text, so think he knows whats involved! lol

Erm Id ideally I'd want rust free, good paintwork good interior and have a supercharged 2.0 16v engine. Only other car Id have is a mini cooper s which would be as fun, but then thatd be an 02 plate so old in itself!

thats it just sills? and a hole by headlight? you have got off very lightly then matey! not much to get her ship shape there!

I thought it was rust ridden that's nothing a bit of sheet metal a hammer and a mig welder can't sort.

 I'll get some pics up, the boot one looks very awkward, theres lilttle bits too but they are the holes, the battery plate bit could do with being fixed up and some around the washer jets.

dude, that is nowt. Get a list of what you need, buy it then set aside some time to get it done.

 I bought mine knowing that it needed new sill, mind you it was verrrrry cheap. In hindsight I would probs have preffered to have bought a rust free one, but that's life. This way I get to do the car the way I want. Found more rust subsiquent but hey, I'm a dab hand with the MIG now

If you find a truely rust free one at the right money then great, as often gets said the bolt on bits are cheap and plentiful, having owned such cars as capris, cortinas, and i am ashamed to say a nova i am of the opinion that unless you know and trust the person mending it you are better off repairing it yourself- my last cortina had been 'restored', resprayed, and flew through its m.o.t but was very touch and go in a lot of structural places within 6months....

also it depends on what you are willing to call rust free, personally i dont care as long as its straight and strong, i daresay theres a few mothballed pristine examples still out there but they will fetch bucks now, 20 years on british roads WILL have started the tinworm to some extent, the only question is whether you see it before yo hand your cash over.

i'll take an honest pig and a bit of work over an expensive one and the same amount anyday.

And theres a rusted sill but you know what thatll look like!

Do they seem like a nightmare fix? My rear window has water droplets inside, the rubber seal as you can see is wet so does that mean its duff and is letting in water into the boot, or would the 3 holes cause that? only just started to steam up recently. And also theres a hole under neath that same rear light.

Is it bad??? Or am I worrying about nothing!

Oak Green 3 door big bumper 16v? Rebuild and MOT it, stick it for sale on Ed 38 and Pistonheads, and get rid for reasonable money.

Then buy a cheaper solid 8v '90 spec with the money, ready for the 2.0 16v conversion.

Thats what I would do If i bought another mk2 after this one, Ill see how much the repair work is and if it owes me loads then I'll sell it, should get a decent amount of ed38, it's been megasquirted, well nearly has lol And yes but its an 88 big bumper conversion 2.0l 16v (9a)  I didnt do it!
