If you want to dip your toe into flash but not spend big money I would recommend this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yongnuo-YN-468-E-TTL-TTL-Flash-Speedlite-Canon-New-/190497340501?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_CameraFlashUnits_JN&hash=item2c5a86bc55

I've go the manual one and love it!

I knew someone would say that, I've been researching that one but am I better getting the Nissin then get yongnuos for multiple flashes etc?

What difference does it make for multiples?

I've no idea, but surely the TTL system should be better on the Nissin? As you can see I'm very confused. I guess my point was is it worth having one good quality gun for general use then things like the Yongnuos for off camera work?

Or I could go for the Yongnuo and get the triggers that you bought for less than the Nissin. AARRGGHH!

Ah right I see your point. I've got a Sigma DG EF-500 Super as my main flash but that was £200!

So do you reckon it's worth plumping for the Nissin then investing in off camera gear next month or later on?

Does the Sigma offer you more than the Sigma? Apart from being  non-manual which the new YN 468 is?

This one looks well wicked

TBH I'm not sure, my flash knowledge isn't that good. I tend to do it all in manual as I don't get on with them metering themselves.

Tempted to buy the Nissin and invest in triggers and off camera flashes at a later stage. That way I've got one 'proper' flash...

for TTL you really want a canon, but the Nissin will give you as good results; might need some RAW tweaking but not the end of the world.

My advice would be go to jessops / camera world / any camera store try both the canon and nissin units, compare the results at home and then choose.

What difference does it make for multiples?

consistency, if you're using the same flash units then it's easier to balance the them e.g. 1/2 power on a Nissan wont be the same as 1/2 power on a sigma.

Ideally you'd want them all the same that way you've got a backup for on camera if your main one fail, but hey on here we're not made of money.

That's the problem, the nissin seems to be the best compromise for price/permformace the Canon 430 at £180~ is out of my price range. Don't really want to spend more than £120~ which is what the Nissin can be had for.

Where is our nearest proper camera shop Ridg (not including Jessops)?
