even if parts like the engine mounts are starting to show wear they're fairly cheap and easy to replace. the front engine mount is only ?36 for the 16v one and takes like an hour tops to change.

Give it a good service when you get it. oil - ?12 / oil filter (genuine) ?4.80 / fuel filter - ?5 ish / air filter ?10 ish. Then put some injector clear through the tank when you fill up.

It'll soon be running as sweet as ever

cheers for all the replies, I shall wait and see what this tornado pink one is like in the morning.

I will also check the classified ad's, and post a wanted ad. To be honest, I would also be happy with a Driver. Although a GTI is my preference.

If I do get it, I'm sure there will be loads of questions from me about how to do stuff!

Thanks,

Chris.

I'm too embarrassed to tell you!

The one I am looking at on Saturday is advertised for ?300. I'm not expecting much tbh.

dont worry about the cost, my old golf, a 1.3 not a gti, was 400 notes and lasted 18 months beofre i scrapped it cos of expensived repairs, altho, it could have gone for another few years at least!!!

i got 2 for 1,8 5dr 8v gti,s 4r ?220 , (cant beat that with a big sh!tty stick) considering my 1.6 driver has 150k on clock and i boot the shizzney out it every day and it runs it starts and runs brilliant , so what im saying is have a look at gtis in breakers , and think about how much work ule need 2 do, cause these cars 1nce up and running are the best out , gti driver mrk2  the best ever car EVER
