Engine noise

Hi,

I was just wondering if other GTI drivers are experiencing a noise in the cold at about 2800 RPM that sounds a bit air or exhaust has a slight blow. It runs perfectly fine except for a slight hesitation in 1st when I am crawling in traffic and want to pick up the throttle for a bit of acceleration. I am not sure if that is normal for the mk6 as the mk5 was always very smooth for me in traffic.

The noise however is a bit strange so thought I would see what others are experiencing if anything?

Mine does similar i put it down to the noise generator thing and cold air.

Have you changed the front grille on your car?  It looks similar to the GTD front end but I am sure you have a GTI. :huh:

I reckon you've probably got the same exhaust rattle as me and few others on here mate, i'm sure some have questioned vw about it but they say it's normal :rolleyes: i also get the slight hesitation in power whilst in traffic so i'd probably say it was normal.
Snoopy, i didn't think euro spec GTI's had that sound wotsit pipe? Or have i made that up? :huh:

I didn't think so either.
I've found no trace of it on mine...but may have missed it I suppose.

No mods, that pic was when the car was just delivered. Hopefully this is a better look

I didn't think so either.
I've found no trace of it on mine...but may have missed it I suppose.

I thought that was the valve on the top of the engine.  :undecided: but maybe im wrong.
I know the mk5 had a sound pipe in the US etc but not the UK but the mk6 is a different engine.
Mine sounds like something opens at certain times to increase noise.
