Ignition Problem??
« on: 22 December 2010, 23:35 »
Yet another problem with the golf lol

sometimes when i indicate or hit a pot hole my stereo goes off, every now and again the digital dials also reset (clock n tripometer)
I have found if i wiggle the key the stereo comes back on.
Sometimes when i have been wiggling the key to get the stereo back on the car has cut out. im not turning the ignition off im just wiggling the key a bit.

What could this be??

If it's a mk3 then it's the ignition barrel/switch.......cheap to buy but can be a swine to fit (worse on airbag cars)

just done mine, if you do it use the universal joint method, and bend the end of a cheap thin + screwdriver to get into the screw.

cheers i will give that a go when i manage to get the part lol, would it cause my speakers to stop working, the radio works but i dont get any sound, as soon as i put the keys down the side of the stereo it works again, its also doin it to my sub but not at the same time as the speakers if that makes sense.
