Longlife oil from dealers?
« on: 22 December 2010, 19:13 »
Ok so I know this is a common questions, ive done a search and cant come to a conclusion over 10w40 or 5w30 as there seems to be mixed opinions?!

I went to the dealers and under my reg no I've bought Quantum longlife 3 fully synth 5w30, part no. Zgb 115 qlb 00 501. I'm now worried I should be using 10w40?

Any advice or opinions appreciated to put my mind at ease!

Cheers,

Matt

use 5w30, but its a thinner oil and better for the tappets, but if it starts dissapearing then use the 10w40, but you shouldnt have any problems

Or better still - use the 5/40 oil (also available from the dealers). Best of both worlds.

Yeah I run Quantum Platinum 5/40 fully synth in my AGU, have done so since I've owned it so about 15,000 miles with a couple of changes, no issues :) Old owner ran it on 10/40 semi synth however!

Well oil and filter all done, took it up the road and back and it seems to run better, altho that could be due to the new air filter I fitted to the cai, the old one was ugh!
